HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVJ

Hi everyone,
Happy candle-blowing, wish-making, cake-eating day! I have a very special card to share with you today that I created for our 6th birthday celebration at A Vintage Journey Brenda is our lovely hostess for this month's 'Celebration' challenge and here is her brief:

Yes! let's celebrate our 6th Birthday.

Do you remember the words from the Kool and the Gang song?
There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last through the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you.
Come on now
Celebration
Let's all celebrate and have a good time
Celebration
We gonna celebrate and have a good time
Its time to come together
It's up to you, what's your pleasure
Everyone around the world
Come on!

Ok ... so over to you to show us what you are celebrating in your art and craftwork at the moment. Don't forget to link us into your blog post and if it's not really obvious to share with us how your project relates to the challenge theme. Just remember to create your project in one of our preferred styles: vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.

My first step was making a background. I used three Distress Oxide Sprays in Pumice Stone, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain. Let it dry. I lightly sprinkled water onto the background. Then I sopped up the water using a paper towel. This left behind “water spots.” Then, I stamped Music Notes onto the background.

I chose to use the FALLING STARS stencil from Tim Holtz and placed this over the panel. I then applied Texture Paste through the stencil. After carefully removing the stencil, and whilst the paste is still wet, I sprinkled Vintage Platinum Glitter Dust over the top of the paste, tapped away the excess before setting it to one side to dry. At the end, I added some splashes from white gesso here and there.

I stamped a bunch of candles using VersaFine CLAIR and cut out them. Stuck on a thin plastic sheet.

To create the ribbon I like to use the Distress Stains. I sprayed the white ribbon with water, then added the colors, and dried between the layers of color with my heat tool. I then used the Mini Vintage Varsity Alphabet dies to die cut the 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY" wording from gold metallic kraft stash.

As always thank you for joining me today and don't forget to hop on over to A Vintage Journey to see all the other fabulous makes for this challenge. And of course, I hope you find the time to join us too.

Thanks so much for stopping by & have a nice day!
Until Next Time,
Hugs & Love,

Ann
