Lost World

Hi everyone,
It’s time for another fun challenge over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m so happy to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #29 Anything Goes
3-D Project (jewelry, gift box, canvas, gift bag, home décor, etc.). I used some Sizzix die-cuts to make this 3-D home decor. Hope you like it.

Here is a quick tutorial :
Apply acrylic paints all over the wood plate. When it dry enough, rubbing the surface with sandpaper that will has a cracking effect.

Tap four colors of Distress Ink side-by-side onto the surface of my non-stick craft sheet. With a spray bottle of water, spritz the surface of the ink. Place my watercolor paper face down onto the puddle of pigment, and gently press to transfer the color onto the surface of the paper. Use a heat tool to dry the watercolor paper completely. Then stamp the sun image onto watercolor paper and heat emboss it with gold powder.

Make the feeling of wilderness desert with Seth's baked embossing powders.

Splashing black acrylic paint with a watercolor pen randomly.

Die-cut the dinosaur and dry embossing it with an embossing folder.

Die-cut the leaves and flowers.

Stamping the birds....and drawing them as a pterodactyl with a black pen.

Here is the close-up.

  1. Ann, this is so fun and even more delightful to see how you've brought this prehistoric scene to life! I love that you've used the crackle folder to give that old dried rough skin to the dinosaur and how you've altered the birds ever so slightly to make them look prehistoric, too! Amazing details! Thanks for joining us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog for our Bits and Bobs challenge. Hugs!

  3. What a great scene and very prehistoric, which is vintage kicked up a few notches, I think - lol. Your background is perfect for the wonderful layers and dimension in front of it. Thanks for joining us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog. Hugs! Cec

  5. Simply brilliant, Ann... you've created such an illusion of depth with the layers in your scene, and the texture from Seth's powders is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful inky colours for the sky and great work with all those die-cuts. Amazing!
