CHOOSE TO SHINE

Hi everyone,

Today is the start of a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey. Lovely Astrid is hosting this months challenge and her chosen theme is 'Tissue Paper' and Astrid says 'there are many different ways you can incorporate tissue paper into your project - create texture by scrunching it up, stain it, paint it, wax it, stamp on it, emboss on it. You could use cheap tissue from the supermarket, recycle gift wrapping tissue, or even use old dressmaking patterns. Just remember to create in one of our preferred styles of vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.'

For our Tissue Paper challenge, I have taken inspiration from the Photo Frame Wall. Hope you like it.

Process steps :
Get a faux canvas panel and apply a thin coat of Vintage Collage Medium to the front of the panel. Set Tim's Collage Paper onto the canvas. Apply a thin, even coat of Vintage Collage Medium over the Tissue Paper.

Allow the medium to dry, then spray panel with Distress Stain Spray. Dry with the Heat tool.

Apply a thin coat of Crazing Collage Medium over the panel and the Idea-ology Quote Chip. But that resulted in NO crackle effect at all.

I smeared some Ranger Opaque Crackle Texture Paste around all the edges, making it thicker in some places and thinner in others. Let dry and crack.

Colouring Collage Paper onto the back with Distress Paints.

Cutting the fake canvas panel and collage paper into small pieces and adhere the collage papers onto the panels.

I smeared some Gesso on Burlap Panel in places and rub a little Ground Espresso Distress Ink around the edge of the panel with a blending tool.

Adding the Idea-ology Quote Chip as the finishing touch.

As always thank you for joining me today and don't forget to hop on over to A Vintage Journey to see all the other fabulous makes for this challenge. And of course, I hope you find the time to join us too.

Thanks so much for stopping by & have a nice day!
Until Next Time,
Hugs & Love,

Ann

  6. I love your elegant "photo frame wall". The pop of the red flowers in their little panels is delightful against the rugged textures of burlap and crackle. It's fabulous!

  10. Ann, this is a true work of art that I would love hanging on my wall! Your idea to paint the flowers and cut the tissue into little panels to hang on the 'wall' is genius and an idea perfectly executed! Your crackled frame is stunning! Hugs! Sara Emily

PS I'm sure it was frustrating to go to the work with the Crazing only to have no crackle show in the end. Crazing is so subtle, and I find that it does not work on a slick surface such as you had with the Collage medium coat.
